WDF At a Glance

Women’s Development Federation (WDF)wasoriginated in the district of Hambantota, Sri Lanka, in 1989. In 2010, it’s activities were expanded to Monaragala, the district with highest incidence of poverty in the country. WDF is represented by 40,000 women seeking prosperity through empowerment. Janasakthi (Peoples’ Power) is among those 48 largest Microfinance institutions in Asia and also the economic arm of Women’s Development Federation (WDF). 25% of profit earned by Jansakthi is reserved being dividends for members while the balance is used to meet social performance expenses. WDF has initiated its steps in constructing a house for them apart from the counseling and other welfare services providing to them.

Devi Conference & march

The event has taken place on 23rd April 2011. The march was to express the protest against the Women harassment & Violence.
